Our Vision & Mission
OUR VISION
Renovations and relationships that last a lifetime
OUR MISSION
As a leading Winter Park home renovation firm, our mission is to share our extensive knowledge, experience and management skills to effect quality modifications and additions to our customers’ homes – and to establish and maintain lifelong relationships along the way.
Our History
Construction runs in our blood
For more than 40 years, we have served Winter Park and the people who call it “home” with quality work and customer service. Founder John Skolfield’s passion for residential construction and remodeling has led the firm to explore a wide variety of service areas, from simple home repairs to historic renovations, to roof leaks, to custom homes, to flipping houses (pre-reality TV) and everything in between. In the last decade alone, the partnership of John Skolfield, Anthony Rizzo, and our excellent staff has resulted in more than $30 million of remodeling work – work we’re very proud of.
The Skolfield family history includes six generations of ship building on the coast of Maine. The family built over 60 wooden sailing ships that plied the world’s oceans spanning three centuries, from the late 1800s all the way through the early 1900s.
The Rizzo family has a long history of residential construction, too, starting with Anthony’s grandfather who built several houses and owned a custom furniture and upholstery business. Anthony’s father built custom homes as well, and became an owner of his grandfather’s upholstery shop. His uncle has been a custom home builder in Winter Park for 40 years, and his father-in-law has owned a regional overhead door company for the better part of three decades.
Our decades of experience have taught us the best way to run a business and serve our customers—but instead of simply doing things as they’ve always been done, we work every day to ensure that we are open and introspective, always excited to learn new techniques.
We are a CRC, CBC, CGC and Electrical-qualified company.
Where we work
Our office is the small historic home at 118 West Comstock, just to the east of Miller’s Hardware in downtown Winter Park. This places the heart of our operation across the street from the City of Winter Park Building Department and in very close proximity to most of our jobs. Our work usually keeps us in Winter Park, Maitland, and the north side of downtown Orlando; however, jobs that fit our work profile have been completed in other neighborhoods as well. We currently operate with a staff of six full-time in the office, including the owners, and more than 30 craftsmen in the field.
